Which Character do you play?
I play Karin Engelson.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Platteville, WI. I am based out of and "live" in Las Vegas, NV.
Do you feel like you share any personality traits with your character?
I find it almost funny and most certainly interesting that Karin is actually the best cook in the kitchen and truly runs the kitchen.....yet I'm not a cook AT ALL. Maybe I've been on the road so many years of my career, but my family jokes about my lack of kitchen skills and cooking knowledge......my friends, too. I'm great at making reservations. I do know how to wash dishes and scrub pots. Also, Karin (in all the CBL shows) is referred to as "MOM" because Beverly (her daughter) is a big part of each show. I do not have any children.....or even pets. I hope I'm convincing as a good mother.
Do you have any personal connections with being a Church Basement Lady?
I grew up being a member of a Lutheran Church here in the Mid-West. (Peace Lutheran Church in Platteville, WI) I am very familiar with Church Basement Ladies.....as we were very active with our Church. I am very proud to be one now.
What is it like being a Church Basement Lady?
I am having a ball being Karin and being a Church Basement Lady. Karin is kind and caring, yet she gets to be funny, too. She certainly has fun......I love the relationships that develop with these characters......each new actor/actress brings a new light into a production....working with repeat actors/actresses makes room for comfort and familiarity and room to grow further.
How many Church Basement Ladies shows have you been in?
I am proud to say that I have done the first 4 installments of the CBL series, and I will be a part of CBL 5 next year (2015) playing Karin in the National Tour. That will be my 5th National Tour of the show, and I have done several regional productions over the last several years.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to work out. I make it a priority. Because I travel so much, it's very interesting taking new classes in gyms and trying new equipment and sometimes even finding a health club. I am also a huge GREEN BAY PACKERS fan......I love being close to my home and Wisconsin right now and during the NFL season. I am also a proud graduate of the University of WI....Go Badgers!! I love that I get to drive home to be with my Dad and family on my time off.
Do you have any favorite other roles you’ve played?
Other favorite theatre role of mine include: M'Lynn in Steel Magnolias, Sheree in Dixie Swim Club, Mary-Ann in Hats! The Musical, Sister Robert Anne in several Nunsense shows, Sue Ellen in Honkey Tonk Angels and Lucy in a series of Lucille Ball murder/mysteries. I have been fortunate to travel the globe and perform around the world during my career.....thanks to International Tours, World Cruise ships and Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan.
Have you acted at the Old Creamery Before?
I am thrilled to be working at the Old Creamery for the first time. Everyone has been so kind to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Old Creamery. I sure hope to see all of you more in the future!!!
